Onto Worcester (and back again) - 16th & 18th Aug ‘20

2 days in one this time ...

16th August 2020:

Up early, kids breakfasted, stripped Izzy, packed and Brunnehilda prepared for travel. We left the pitch at 5 to 11 and crossed everything as we headed up the 3 miles of narrow lane with “passing places”!!? We only met a couple of cars so they politely backed up and we were full steam ahead for The Old Orchard just outside Worcester.

We stopped at Strensham services for some brunch. We have certainly found some 1 out of 10 services for caravans but Strensham is definitely a 9! Which is why I guess it was really busy and we got the last of the custom made spaces for vans - phew! MacDonalds and Cornish Pasty shop we’re the lucky purveyors of food this time!

One mistake - I couldn’t be arsed to put Brunnehilda’s front cover on for the short journey - she got filthy!

We got to the beautiful little CL site at 1pm. We stayed there last June and were so impressed with the view, the amount of space, the free access to farm walks and the facilities - given its only a CL. Nothing has changed!

The sun was out by now so it was a pleasant set up. Thom and Rach arrived halfway through. We passed over the baton, loaded the boys into the car and headed home. It was less than 1.5 hours to get back to The Shire so we were offloading the wee ones before 4pm.

Thom and Rach stayed 2 nights. We headed back, with a full car but no boys, at about midday on the Tuesday morning.

18th August 2020:

It’s very windy today but at least we have some sun. Izzy was a bit scruffy so I tried to tidy her up a bit before we headed out again. Stourport Tesco to get some provisions and books! We wanted to take advantage of the £10 off Gvt offer on Mon-Weds, so we managed to get the last booking (4.45pm!) at one of the several nice pubs in the village (Ombersley) - Crown and Sandys.

It was first class. Kim had Falafels and I had a superb ploughman’s. To my pescatarian shame it included a homemade scotch egg and rather wonderful pate - I cleared my plate!! Kim really fancied the Coconut and Lime panocota but they had run out- so we rather extravagantly booked again for tomorrow tea time!!

Back to Brunnehilda nice and early to watch the sunset and, when the chill kicked in, go inside for another dose of Kima, McNulty, Stringer Bell et al.

Here are the thoughts on the Lyndor, Ross on Wye CL site:

Pros:
1) What a view- probably best ever.
2) Incredibly quiet and peaceful
3) Nice friendly laid back owner - Charles
4) Gorgeous scenery
5) Access to river not too far away

Cons:
1) The approach - narrow lanes
2) No village/pub/town within easy walking distance
3) Very poor 4G signal
4) No toilet/ shower
